Evi Vet, an expert on biodiversity and food systems, is living lab coordinator at the AMS Institute. Here she contributes to shortening the European food supply chains within the EU project ‘EU4Advice’. In addition to this role, she works at Flevo Campus, focusing on the opportunities for short food supply chains in the Metropole Region of Amsterdam and the province of Flevoland.
With her background in plant genetics (BSc) and nutrition and health (MSc), Evi finds herself at the nexus between nature and nutrition. Before coming to AMS, Evi was the Dutch youth representative on biodiversity and food for the United Nations. In this role, she worked closely with various ministries and the FAO to operate on international biodiversity and food-related policies.
Metropolitans play a vital role in how they shape our connection to food. Shortening food supply chains is one piece of the puzzle in transforming into more resilient, sustainable and healthy food systems. Working at AMS Institute enables Evi to pursue her mission to create food systems that benefit the planet and its people.
“I believe cities can - and have the responsibility - to create food systems that are socially- and environmentally sustainable while contributing to the health of its inhabitants.”
