Julia is the Education Coordinator of the Metropolitan Analysis Design and Engineering (MADE ) joint MSc program between Wageningen University and Delft University at AMS Institute. As a part of the Education Team, she uses her creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovations for the MADE curriculum, forming strong connections with research and the wider community of practice.
Julia holds an MA in Development Studies from Erasmus University with a specialization in Human Rights Law. During her professional career, she has enjoyed a combination of educational development, teaching, and research roles. Prior to working at AMS Institute, she coordinated and lectured in an international minor program focused on environmental sustainability and human geography. In addition to this, she worked as a social sciences researcher investigating migration and diversity in the built environment.
In her spare time, Julia makes frequent trips to volunteer with organizations aiding people on the move in Calais and Dunkirk, France. When she’s not stuck on a wall at the bouldering hall, you can find her reading historical fiction books and slowly building up a small library in her apartment in Blijdorp, Rotterdam.
“In urban innovation, the social and the technical are intimately interconnected. One cannot exist in its full essence without the presence of the other. For proof, just take a look around.”
