Lena serves as a Living Lab Coordinator, where she bridges academia, businesses, and civil society to foster innovative ideas for making Amsterdam a future-proof city. She specifically works on the "Toekomstbestendige Leefomgeving" (Future-Proof Living Environment) project, focusing on creating sustainable approaches for the lifecycle, production, and replacement of roads, bridges, and quay walls. Lena's responsibilities include supporting research and innovation focusing on roads, through pilot studies in and around Amsterdam.

Her role also involves developing new interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral working methods, experimenting with real-life settings to drive progress. Lena's interest extends beyond infrastructure to the nexus of food, society, and the built environment. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming, gardening, and traveling.

Lena is passionate about her role as it allows her to contribute to building bridges between disciplines and sectors, enhancing Amsterdam’s future sustainability for its residents.
