Dr Yawei Chen is an assistant professor in Urban Development Management at the Department of Management in the Built Environment (MBE), Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology. Yawei developed her specialization in developing strategies and governance in urban megaprojects to pursue industrial transition towards a knowledge-based economy. In urban transformation projects, she focuses on developing innovative financial instruments and sustainable strategy for stakeholders in urban megaprojects in Chinese cities. She initiated various research projects that examine the creative solutions for urban megaprojects that address social-economic and environmental challenges in European-Chinese comparison studies.
She has been involved in teaching, developing and coordinating different bachelor and master courses at the Delft University of Technology. She has been the coordinator for MBE’s flagship master course, the Urban Redevelopment Game -integrating planning, design and property development for 13 years. Furthermore, she acts as the MBE representative in the Honor Program and the Admission Committee for International MSc Students. She is also a member of the Examination Committee for the postmaster program Master City Developer. She is currently one of the coordinators of the MSc MADE course Metropolitan Solutions that challenges students to develop interdisciplinary solutions for the environmental, economic, and social problems many metropolitans face.
