“Mono-disciplinary approaches to mobility, urban design and energy may provide quick-wins but will ultimately fail in making cities and regions sustainable and liveable.”

Will intelligent vehicles help solve congestion problems? High expectations rest on intelligent vehicles, yet the answer to this question is far from trivial. My research focuses on analysing and modelling the implications of intelligent vehicles. Such implications may pertain to human factors, traffic flow on roads and networks, travel behaviour, spatial and energy impacts and design of urban space. The research has a strong modelling and simulation component based on empirics using the Researchlab Automated Driving Delft and naturalistic real-world situations.
