As former program lead of the Energy Lab in Amsterdam Zuidoost, Else connected concrete urban energy challenges of Amsterdam Zuidoost to research and scientific expertise. At the Energy Lab, we use Amsterdam Zuidoost as a Living Lab: a valuable context for experiments that helps develop and test advanced solutions for urban energy challenges. Here we work together with various partners, and in close cooperation with the Urban Energy Institute of Delft University of Technology. We aim to directly contribute to realizing the energy transition in Amsterdam Zuidoost with scientific expertise and to learn how to apply these on a large scale in metropolitan environments.
Else is driven to contribute to the energy transition by realizing meaningful innovations. She believes that to achieve this, we need to join forces. We need researchers from various disciplines to develop and share knowledge. We need entrepreneurs to accelerate the development of new solutions. And we need governments and companies for large-scale implementation of these solutions.
Before having joined AMS Institute, Else has worked as a researcher and innovation manager on smart energy systems. In various roles, she has built partnerships between companies, municipalities and knowledge institutes. After having worked for more than 10 years on innovations in the energy sector, she loves to put her experience into practice in the inspiring environment of Amsterdam Zuidoost and to contribute to real challenges in this area.
“We really need to accelerate towards a sustainable future. System changes are necessary to makes this happen. We need to do this together, with companies, researchers, municipalities and citizens. The social and technological challenges are real in Amsterdam Southeast. Here, it all comes together.”
