Manuela Triggianese is involved in both education and research activities at AMS Institute. She developed the AMS MID-City design studio and City of Innovations course at TU Delft Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment together with Prof. ir. C.H.C.F. Kaan and the staff of Complex Projects Chair. The research-based education program included workshops at TU Delft and AMS Institute on the influence of technology on future urban development strategies, towards new architectural typologies and urban realities (at building/urban scale, highway and buffer zones, district, neighbourhood). AMS MID-City became a platform for discussion on the future development of the City of Amsterdam. It covered issues related to density, transportation, housing, public and semi-public spaces. Next to the AMS MID-City studio (research-by-design), she is starting a new French-Dutch collaboration on the topic of ‘stations of the future’. The intention of this collaboration is twofold: to introduce FR-NL cooperation in this field, with triple P involvement (People-Planet-Profit), and to set up a common research agenda. To cope with this ambition, in 2018 she organised two events: Stations of the Future seminar in Paris and the International Summer School Integrated Mobility Challenges in Future Metropolitan Areas in Amsterdam.

Bio
Graduated cum laude in Architecture in Italy (Naples), Manuela is researcher and lecturer at the Department of Architecture at Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. Since 2016 she collaborates in research projects with Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions and TU Delft Deltas Infrastructure Mobility Initiative. She is coordinator of the master program of the Architectural Design Chair of Complex Projects. In 2015 she spent part of her research in China for three months with the UKNA grant (Urban Knowledge Network Asia) working at the Beijing Technical University. In 2014 she obtained the doctoral degree at the Faculty of Architecture in Venice (IUAV), as part of an international program Villard d’Honnecourt, with ETSAM and Ecole Nationale Superieure d’ Architecture de Paris Belleville. Her fascination in research is the topic of railway stations and the (re)development of station areas. Since she moved to the Netherlands in 2012, she collaborates with KAAN Architecten. She speaks fluently French, English, Spanish and Italian.
