Gustaf is a research fellow at AMS Institute and the Architectural Engineering and Technology department at TU Delft. He is involved in the Urban Comfort Lab project, which investigates the joint influence of urban form, materials, and greening onto local airplane noise dispersion, microclimate, and air pollution. His focus within the project lies on urban microclimate, where he aims to develop new insights on the local interactions between urban climate and the built environment.

Gustaf has a background in in urban engineering at TU Delft and Wageningen UR, having previously studied mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich. He grew up in Switzerland to Dutch and Finnish parents, his multicultural upbringing helps him empathize with the transdisciplinary nature of metropolitan challenges and solutions.

“In 2050 Amsterdam’s climate will resemble that of Bordeaux today. We need to re-think building and public space design, taking heat stress into account accordingly.”
