Nina graduated from the Master’s program in ‘Design for Interaction,’ where she learned to design with and for people by conducting behavioral research. Her research outcomes take the form of physical or digital designs that address or provide solutions to the identified problems.

As a research fellow at AMS Institute and Junior researcher at TUDelft, she will contribute to the living lab, ‘Schone Binnenstad’ (‘Clean City’), focusing on sustainable consumer behavior around horeca in the center of Amsterdam.

For her graduation project, she designed ‘NuiSENSE,’ a tool to evaluate houseboat residents' experiences of vessel traffic-generated nuisance in Amsterdam. This design enables houseboat residents to provide data on nuisance, which is then analyzed by researchers. The project was developed in collaboration with MIT SAL.

In addition, she worked on various projects addressing complex human behaviors and issues through design methodologies. Examples include tackling the embarrassment associated with purchasing condoms in drugstores and overcoming barriers that prevent individuals in debt from seeking help.

She grew up on a houseboat in Amsterdam and is passionate about applying her design skills to address issues in Amsterdam to keep the city livable and enjoyable for its residents.

“I aspire to enhance people's lives and well-being through research and design”
