This session will be the third (and last) in line on the topic of urban development and will be a practical follow up on the inspirational session Future in Cities at the Partos Innovation Festival.
The session will be facilitated by AMS Institute's Scientific Director prof. dr. Arjan van Timmeren. Over the years his work has focused on the integration of the concept of sustainable development in the field of architecture, urbanism and building technology in both practice and academia, with late emphasis on Smart cities, citizens, Urban Metabolism (Green-Blue systems) and Circular Economy.
As an expert on Urban Resilience at Cordaid, Peter Gijs van Enk will give a presentation during this session. He supports Cordaid’s projects to strengthen urban resilience, especially for the urban poor. He is committed to shaping solutions for the consequences of climate change, natural and man-made hazards that inhabitants of cities and surrounding regions are increasingly facing. Peter Gijs will be zooming in on Cordaid’s urban resilience approach and examples which illustrate how Cordaid works with urban communities in Asia and Africa in becoming more resilient to disaster risks and challenges faced in these projects.
