Smart City Expo Barcelona
The Smart City Expo World Congress is the leading event for cities, the place where the future of cities is discussed and the most inspiring ideas for exploring our urban future are brought to stage. Since its first edition in 2011, it has succeeded in becoming a referential global meeting point for governments, companies, social entrepreneurs and research centers in order to strengthen capacities, increase collaboration and share inspiration for supporting the improved development of our cities.
About the Workshop
The mission is to create a new normal; speed & scale up to be SMART and RESILIENT cities. To speed up innovation means to inspire (public) lead buyers to open their assignment for start-ups and innovative solution by showcasing the benefit of triple helix cooperation and the return of innovative procurement.
Program
The workshop will start with an introduction and presentation on the topic, followed by a panel discussion after which the workshop starts. The outcomes of the workshop will be discussed and reflected on.
Facilitated by: Rob Schmidt (project Manager Smart City, City of Rotterdam), Sacha Stolp (director of innovation, City of Amsterdam) and Kenneth Heijns (managing director AMS Institute).

Cities worldwide feel the urgency of climate change, digital revolution, energy and circular transition and the pressure to innovate in order to keep their city; save, clean, livable and accessible. Future Proof Assets is a transition program within Rotterdam and Amsterdam that addresses the worldwide felt urgencies to urban asset management. By using the assignment of maintenance and with a new approach, in cooperation with knowledge institutes and private partners they take the role as lead buyer of innovation with awarded projects as result.
