Working on urban challenges requires cooperation on a multi-stakeholder level. In all our research and education activities we work closely together with a broad network of industry, governmental and societal partners.
Founding partners
AMS Institute was founded in 2014 by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The universities bring in knowledge, expertise and network. The collaboration between the three provides a unique and interdisciplinary perspective on the urban challenges at hand. Together we work on solving urban challenges with and for the City of Amsterdam.
Institutional partners
We strengthen our knowledge and expertise in the urban innovation eco-system in Amsterdam and beyond, through long-term partnerships with leading innovators. Sharing a drive to contribute to solving urban challenges we can accomplish so much more when joining forces. An overview of our institutional partners can be found here.

Open Knowledge Coalition Marineterrein
The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK), Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute), and Codam Coding College (Codam) launched the Open Knowledge Coalition to promote the collaboration between art, technology, and science at Marineterrein on July 12, 2023. To further explore how the organizations can contribute to the development of the Marineterrein innovation district, they signed a letter of intent with the Municipality of Amsterdam, the National Real Estate Agency, and the Ministry of Defense on the same day.
Project partners
All projects are defined and executed by interdisciplinary consortia of knowledge institutes, public and private partners, in cooperation with the City of Amsterdam and its citizen platforms. An overview of our project partners can be found here.
