The SmartHubs project delved into three fundamental pillars. Firstly, they explored the optimal placement of these hubs. Through meticulous analysis and the collective expertise of our consortium, including renowned mobility providers like Hely and TML Lisbon, esteemed universities such as Delft, UPC, and Lisboa, as well as progressive cities like Amsterdam, Warsaw, and Lisbon, they identified the most strategic locations for these hubs. The participation of six European cities in piloting the hubs gave us a unique advantage, enabling us to compare and exchange experiences on a broader scale.
“Over the past two years, we have dedicated ourselves to developing SmartHubs - multi-modal hubs that seamlessly integrate mobility options with intelligent location selection and the potential for multiple additional services. Today, we stand proudly with a wealth of experience and invaluable insights that we are eager to share with you.”

Notably, the city of Lisbon exemplified an extraordinary co-creation process, involving citizens in shaping the hub to perfectly align with their needs. This tailored approach ensured that the hub seamlessly integrated into the lives of its intended users, maximizing its effectiveness and impact.
Within this project, they have produced a series of deliverables that empower cities and stakeholders to embrace the SmartHubs concept. Firstly, our decision support tool, developed through rigorous multi-criteria analysis, offers an invaluable resource for modeling and testing potential hub locations. Currently in the process of being made available to the market, this tool will revolutionize the decision-making process regarding hub placement.
Additionally, we have launched our procurement tool. This user-friendly platform empowers cities to gain profound insights into structuring their procurement processes effectively, ensuring the optimal level of influence over the implementation of SmartHubs.
Furthermore, our partners at Capgemini have utilized the business model radar to conduct a comprehensive analysis of stakeholders and hubs, culminating in a groundbreaking approach to determining successful business models for your hub. This valuable resource can also be found on our website under the Deliverables section.
The outcomes of our pilot projects, along with the valuable lessons we have learned, are readily available for exploration on our website, www.smarthubs.eu. We invite you to delve into the insights we have gained throughout this project with the hope of inspiring future research and fostering the continuous advancement of the mobility hub concept.
